軋輥的分類(lèi)方法有多種，主要有：（1）按產(chǎn)品類(lèi)型分有帶鋼軋輥、型鋼軋輥、線(xiàn)材軋輥等；（2）按軋輥在軋機(jī)系列中的位置分有開(kāi)坯輥、粗軋輥、精軋輥等；（3）按軋輥功能分有破鱗輥、穿孔輥、平整輥等。

而精軋輥速度較高，軋制終產(chǎn)品要有一定的表面質(zhì)量，對(duì)它以硬度、耐磨等為主要要求。然后考慮軋輥使用時(shí)所應(yīng)有的耐磨性。由于軋輥的磨損機(jī)理很復(fù)雜，包括機(jī)械應(yīng)力作用、軋制時(shí)的熱作用、冷卻作用、潤(rùn)滑介質(zhì)的化學(xué)作用以及其他作用。

當(dāng)軋制其它型材時(shí)，可以用水平機(jī)架更換機(jī)架。水平機(jī)架的軋輥有很深的孔型，而機(jī)架沒(méi)有。  

較大直徑的水平軋輥確定型鋼的的形狀，而較小直徑的一對(duì)立輥用于軋制邊部。當(dāng)坯料穿過(guò)傳統(tǒng)機(jī)架和機(jī)架精軋軋輥時(shí)，可以獲得很好的表面光潔度和尺寸公差。
